Support our troops July 2nd at Ken Stanton Music Marietta! Parking lot event.

United We Stand!

Direct troop support for the 101st Airborne from Marietta Businesses.

Join us for a great patriotic event this coming Saturday! The businesses of North 41 Plaza (located one block north of the “Big Chicken” on Cobb Parkway), are uniting efforts this July to honor and support troops overseas in a BIG way. Ken Stanton Music, Northern Tools, Value Village, Cobb Antique Mall, Office Depot and Advance Auto Parts are all collecting and sending “home goods” to our troops in Afghanistan during the month of July.

The United We Stand campaign kicks off on Saturday, July 2nd at 10:00 AM at the “North 41 Plaza” located at 119 Cobb Parkway North. Marietta, GA 30062. There will be free Moonwalks and a 22 foot slide for the kids attending the event. BBQ, smoked sausages, hamburgers and hot dogs will be smoked on site by Uncle C’s BBQ. Each participating store will have a bin to collect donated items to be sent to our troops overseas. Some stores are having “special sales” and promotions in conjunction with the event. Bring your much needed donations and your appetites and join us for the fun. This is a great cause!

Here are the suggestions from our troops on items they would love to get from “back home” and would greatly appreciate!
  • “We would like REAL coffee”
  • “Anything that reminds us of home - corn or flour tortillas and salsa”
  • “Dum Dum lollipops and Smarties. Candies, gum and mints”
  • “Spices. The food here is bland”
  • “Magazines and newspapers - both local and national, to catch up on events at home”
  • “Beef jerky or a log of summer sausage, crackers and nuts”
  • “Books, movies and crossword puzzles”
  • “Basic toiletries like toothpaste, deodorant (no gels), mouthwash, toothbrushes, dental floss”
  • “Powdered drink mixes to add to water”
  • “Small toys or stuffed animals for the children being cared for in the hospitals - to make them feel more comfortable with the troops”

You may also include letters to the troops to show your personal gratitude for their sacrifice. Many of us claim to be patriotic Americans. Here is your chance to put your words into action in a simple, yet effective way. Please remember our troops this holiday weekend!
