Stephen Wilson

Instrument Specialty: Trombone, Brass

Teaching Experience: Stephen has taught all brass instruments at Morehouse College, Clark Atlanta University, and Morris Brown College.

Performance Experience: Stephen is in his 28th season as associate principal trombone of the Atlanta Symphony.

Mitch Kiley

Instrument Specialty: Drums, Percussion

Education: Berklee College of Music

Teaching Experience: Mitch has been teaching for over 5 years and has been a percussion instructor at Campbell High School

Performance Experience: He has performed several hundred professional shows so far in his career, ranging all throughout the east and west coasts, including some nationally televised events.

Tyler Hester

Instrument Specialty: Drums, Percussion

Education: Atlanta Institute of Music

Teaching Experience: Tyler has taught private drum lessons for students of all ages since 2012.

Performance Experience: Tyler is an avid church musician and currently plays at 12Stone Church and the Eastside Baptist Church

Jon White

Instrument Specialty: Guitar, Banjo, Mandolin, Dobro, Lap Steel Guitar, Fretted Bass, Drums

Education: Florida State University, Bachelor of Music Composition

Performance Experience: Jon has extensive teaching, recording, and performing experience on many instruments. Recently he was commissioned by Columbus State University for two original compositions.

Specialty: Bluegrass, newgrass, rock, country, fusion, folk, progressive acoustic, music theory and composition

Rick Laser

Instrument Specialty: Guitar, Ukulele, Fretted Bass

Education: University of Hawaii

Teaching Experience: Rick has been teaching with KSM since 1996 and tailors his curriculum to achieve the goals of each student.

Performance Experience: Rick’s experience includes professional performance, session recording, radio and film scoring, songwriting, composition, and producing.

Specialty: Chord and rhythm technique, improvisation, soloing, melody construction, strumming and rhythm patterns, finger picking, and theory

Steve Moss

Instrument Specialty: Guitar

Education: Atlanta Institute of Music, Honors graduate

Experience: He has been a private instructor for over 12 years and has over 18 years of performance experience.

Specialty: Students of all ages, skills, and levels in the areas of rock, country, blues, jazz, improvisation, and music theory

Philosophy: He uses songs that students enjoy as a framework to teach musical concepts while keeping the process interesting, challenging and fun.

Lorenzo Price

Instrument Specialty: Guitar

 

Education: Atlanta Institute of Music, Honors graduate

Performance Experience: Lorenzo has been performing live in many cover and original bands for over 8 years. Currently he
is the lead guitarist for Life Center Ministries in Dunwoody, GA twice every week.

Specialty: Students of any and all skill levels with a focus in composition, ear training, sight reading, music theory and improvisation. Styles can include rock, blues, country, and jazz.

Piano

Eva Hizown

Education: Graduated with Honors from Jazeps Medins Music College in Latvia and received a Piano Performance degree from Georgia State University

Teaching Experience: Eva began teaching at the age of 15 at the Good News Christian Music Studio in Latvia.

Performance Experience: Eva was a chosen soloist in the Honors Recital at Georgia State University and finalist in the Margaret Guthman Piano Competition. She was a first prize winner at the MTNA piano competition in 2008, where she represented Georgia.

Penny Vaughn

Education: Bachelor of Music Education from Berry College with emphasis in piano

Teaching Experience: Penny taught elementary music for 30 years in public schools.

Performance Experience: During her retirement, Penny enjoys accompanying church choirs, vocal and instrumental soloists/ ensembles, and singing for her church choir.

Strings

Todd Markey

Instrument Specialty: String Bass, Cello, Violin, Viola

Education: University of North Texas, Master of Music in Double Bass Performance

Teaching Experience: Todd taught at Valdosta State University and has a wide range of music skills, including performance, composition, and music theory.

Performance Experience: Todd is an active orchestra musician in Georgia, frequently heard with the Columbus, Johns Creek, and Gainesville symphonies as well as the Tango Orchestra Club Atlanta.

 

Woodwinds

Krystal Saenz

Instrument Specialty: Oboe, Bassoon, Clarinet, Bass Clarinet

Education: Georgia State University on Bassoon, Bachelor of Music Education

Teaching Experience: Krystal actively teaches clinics in Gwinnett, Fulton, and DeKalb, and works extensively with middle school-age students.

Performance Experience: Krystal has performed with distinguished ensembles such as the Georgia Philharmonic Orchestra and the Emory Summer Winds. Recently, she performed in Beijing and Xi’an China with the Kennesaw State University Orchestra.

Randy Hunter

Instrument Specialty: Saxophone, Clarinet, Flute

Education: Valdosta State College, Bachelor of Music Education

Teaching Experience: Randy has over 20 years of experience teaching and has been at KSM since 1985. He is an Artist Affiliate and Instructor of Jazz Sax at Emory University, and he has published several jazz education series.

Robert Green

Teaching Experience: Robert has over 10 years of experience as a band director and private teacher.

Ronald Palmer

Instrument Specialty: French Horn

Education: Kennesaw State University

Teaching Experience: Ronald has been teaching for over 40 years and has been with KSM since 2000.

Performance Experience: Ronald is presently playing with the Westside Winds, East Cobb Horizons Band, the Band of America in Atlanta, and the City of Marietta Orchestra.

Alex Rodiek

Instrument Specialty: Trumpet

Education: Vanderbilt University, Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Music Performance University of North Carolina School of the Arts, Masters of Music

Teaching Experience: Alex has over 10 years of private teaching, master class, and brass sectional teaching at the K-12 and collegiate levels. He has done master classes and lessons at Kennesaw State university, Young Harris College, and the Atlanta International School.

Performance Experience: He joined the Beltline Brass Quintet in 2011, which is comprised of Atlanta’s top brass musicians. He also holds a solo cornet chair in the Georgia Brass Band and is a regular member of the Mercury Orkestar, Atlanta’s premier Balkan Brass party band.
