Ronald Palmer

Teaching Experience: Ronald has been teaching for over 40 years and has been with KSM since 2000.

Performance Experience: Ronald is presently playing with the Westside Winds, East Cobb Horizons Band, the Band of America in Atlanta, and the City of Marietta Orchestra.

Tony Smart

Education: Jacksonville State University, Bachelor of Music, Georgia State University, Master of Music

Teaching Experience: Tony has been involved with music education at the collegiate, secondary, and elementary levels.

Specialty: Instrumental and vocal pedagogy, music cognition, music psychology, and musicians as lifelong learners.

Erik Minkkinen

Instrument Specialty: Trombone, Euphonium, Baritione, Tuba, Trumpet

Education: University of North Texas, Bachelor of Music Education

Teaching Experience: Erik has taught trombone for over 10 years and is the author of two books. Currently, he is the Director of Bands at Sandy Springs Middle School.

Performance Experience: Erik has performed with various ensembles, church groups, and music theatre companies.

Trevor Roberts

Education: Berklee College of Music, Georgia State University, UGA

Performance Experience: Trevor is a professional drummer with 10 years of experience as an instructor and working performer. He can be heard with various R&B, blues, and Americana artists throughout Atlanta.

Ben Taylor

Instrument Specialty: Drums

Education: UNC-Ashville, Kennesaw State University

Teaching Experience: Ben has been teaching for 12 years in middle and high schools and clinic settings.

Performance Experience: Ben held the drum position in the top band at the NC John Coltrane School. He has also recorded in several multi-platinum studios in the Atlanta area and holds a variety of producing and writing credits.

Guitar/Bass

Barry Edelson

Instrument Specialty: Guitar, Bass Guitar

Education: State University in New York Manhattan School of Music

Teaching Experience: Barry has taught for over 20 years and has been with KSM for 7 years. He also runs learning clinics for disadvantaged children and tutors existing bands in building performance skills.

Performance Experience: Barry has written and performed with his own bands as well as being a first-call session guitarist and arranger for many demo studios in the New York area.

Specialty: Concentrates in classic rock, jazz, and blues

Matt Wade

Instrument Specialty: Guitar, Electric Bass

Education: Armstrong University, Honors graduate, Bachelor in Music Performance Georgia State University, Master of Arts

Teaching Experience: Matt has been teaching for over 15 years and has experience teaching at the collegiate level.

Performance Experience: Matt performed at Carnegie Hall and toured with Grammy-winning Sugarland. He performs regularly throughout the Southeast.

Specialty: Rock, blues, jazz, country, soul, and classical

Steve Moss

Education: Atlanta Institute of Music, Honors graduate

Teaching Experience: Steve has taught guitar privately for 12 years.

Performance Experience: He has over 18 years’ experience.

Specialty: Students of all ages, skill, and levels in the areas of rock, country, blues, jazz, improvisation, and music theory.

Philosophy: Steve uses songs that students enjoy as a framework to teach musical concepts while keeping the learning process interesting, challenging, and fun.

Greg Kemp

Teaching Experience: Greg has taught individual lessons for several years in the Atlanta Area

Performance Experience: Ivana has participated in many concerts and competitions and won numerous prizes and awards.

Denita Jones

Instrument Specialty: Piano, Voice

Education: University of Hartford, Organ and Piano Performance

Teaching Experience: Denita has taught piano, organ, and voice for over 25 years for various studios and churches in Connecticut and Georgia. She is currently the Music Director at a local Marietta Lutheran church.

Alice Li

Instrument Specialty: Piano

Education: University of California, Bachelor of Music

Teaching Experience: 10 years of teaching at schools and privately.

Performance Experience: Alice has performed in many venues from California, to New York, to Italy with many different groups and ensembles.

Ramona Wright

Instrument Specialty: Piano, Voice

Education: Kennesaw State University, Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, Columbus State University, Master of Music Education

Teaching Experience: Ramona teaches elementary general music and chorus in Atlanta Public Schools. She has also taught in Fulton and Cobb County schools.

Performance Experience: Ramona was a vocalist with the Atlanta SEEIT Choir. She was a background vocalist for Stevie Wonder and Choir Vocalist at Elizabeth Baptist Church in Atlanta.

Kimberly Rosquist

Education: Kennesaw State University, Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, Georgia State University, Master of Music in Vocal Performance

Teaching Experience: Kimberly has over 10 years private teaching experience and 2 years at the collegiate level.

Performance Experience: Kimberly has performed in multiple operas with the Atlanta Opera, along with numerous lead roles with the City Capitol Opera.

Doug Grant

Education: UGA, Bachelor of Music Education

Teaching Experience: Doug served as a high school choral and guitar director in Fulton County. He has taught Advanced Women’s Ensembles, Glee Clubs, and festivals.

Performance Experience: Doug has performed in a variety of choirs and operas throughout Georgia.

Kevin Chaney

Performance Experience: Kevin toured as a violinist with International Concert Management, which included several tours of China and a 2010 tour with the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.

Justin Brookins

Instrument Specialty: Violin, Viola

Education: Kennesaw State University, Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance

Teaching Experience: He has 4 years of private teaching experience.

Performance Experience: Justin has performed with the Georgia Youth Symphony Orchestra. Currently he is a member of the KSU Symphony Orchestra and substitute for the KSU Opera Orchestra.

Bill Van Dyke

Teaching Experience: Bill has taught for over 20 years with several students making All-State and Honor bands. He has also worked with Cooper and Lindley middle schools’ saxophone student for several years.

Performance Experience: Bill is most recently heard with the Night & Day Quartet.
