BENEFITS OF TAKING LESSONS:Lessons are a valuable way to learn discipline and creativity while having fun. Studies have shown that those who participate in music education develop better hand-eye coordination, motor skills, increased ability to reason mathematically, and memorization skills. Older students benefit greatly through staying mentally active and emotionally creative; mental and physical health improve from reduced stress and increased enjoyment. Just try feeling stressed when pounding out paradiddles on the drum set!
INSTRUMENTS:Our knowledgeable staff encourages students of all ages to visit our stores and get a feel for what instruments best suit individual goals. Rentals are available for most band and orchestra instruments. From standand band and orchestra instruments (including saxophone, clarinet, flute, oboe, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, tuba, baritone, euphonium, double bass, cello, violin, and viola) to favorites like piano, drums, guitar, bass guitar, and voice, every Ken Stanton Music store has instructors to teach you what you most want to learn. We are proud to be the largest, local independent music retailer to offer lessons in unique instruments including banjo, harmonica, mandolin, and ukulele, as well as our new recording arts program.
TIME SLOTS & AVAILABILITY:For most students, beginning to advanced, we recommend signing up for a 30-minute lesson once a week on a specific day and time. All six Ken Stanton Music stores hold lessons Monday through Sunday in private, one-on-one studios. We will always work with you to find a time which is most convenient for your needs, and lesson schedules may be changed by notifying the instructor and store staff. Lessons may be booked in 60-minute and, sometimes, 45-minute blocks depending on the individual goals of the student. A time slot is guaranteed for the student when lessons are paid monthly, in advance. Instructors are not required to hold a spot for any student who has not pre-paid. The student will be charged for all regularly scheduled lessons in the month and must contact the instructor for availability of make-up lessons or excused absences. Make-up times for missed lessons are available on a case-by-case basis, and students should refer to the instructor's studio policy for specific requirements.
LESSON RATES:All instructors are independent contractors who set their own rates based on education and experience. These rates range from $20.00 to $35.00 per 30-minute lesson. Please contact the store where you would like to take lessons to find out rates for specific teachers and instruments.
CHOOSING A TEACHER:Ken Stanton Music boasts the best music teachers in the business: men and women with years of experience playing professionally as well as teaching. Many of our instructors hold advanced degrees in performance and education. Please feel free to read through the biographies listed by store. Call or stop by the store of your choice to schedule lessons. We understand the need to develop rapport and learn with a confident, competent instructor. Click here for instructor bios.
