Drum Clinic May 10, 2011, with Jason Bittner of Shadows Fall
Review and photos by Ellen Eldridge
Jason Bittner, a graduate of the esteemed Berklee College of Music, visited Ken Stanton Music’s superstore in Marietta, GA on his Bittner 2011 Clinic Tour sponsored by Zildjian. Fans from the local and surrounding states came out to hear how Bittner drives his double-bass drumming for heavy metal band Shadows Fall. The fan who won the Zildjian 16” A Series crash giveaway drove about two and a half hours from Alabama for the 8pm event.
In addition to tips on techniques, including lessons on how to build 4-way independence of limbs, Bittner also informed the crowd of more than 80 people that he enjoys studying and playing different styles of music like jazz and Brazilian bossa nova patterns in his time off tour.
The crowd enjoyed watching the intensely focused look on Bittner’s face as he played along to tracks by Shadows Falls. Those familiar with locally-based, Atlanta band, Mastodon, may have recognized drummer Brann Dailor who attended as a friend of Bittner’s.
